The owner makes you feel at home, anything you request, he will do his utmost the get it for you. I would recommend buying gifts in Island Village, especially the shop closest to the cruise terminal/Ocean 11 restaurant, it was surprisingly affordable considering the location.We had a self catering apartment, Champion supermarket was better priced than Progressive.There are a couple of Jamaican Pattie places, (similar to a pie shop), you must try these, they tasted fantastic and were very cheap.It is better to pay in Jamaican dollars, even on the credit card, as we were charged some crazy exchange rates by the local establishments which made everything more expensive. This is a hidden gem in Jamaica, rooms are of a good size, air condition is good, shower is good and the breakfast is tasty. When booking attraction tickets they generally include transport from locations within Ocho Rios.We found the Pineapple Craft Market a bit overwhelming, with so many stall owners pushing you to purchase something.

At night everyone drives with full beam lights on. We visited Mysic Mountain, Dunns River Falls, Yaaman Adventures, tubing on the White River and went horse riding.We hired a car, but beware Jamaican drivers, especially the taxis are absolutely crazy, they do not follow the rules of the road. We stayed for 12 nights, but 9 or 10 would have been sufficient. Ocho Rios appears to have most of the major tourist attractions and activities in Jamaica, especially if you have children. We are sure that most of the town could hear the noise. Our accommodation, Hibiscus Lodge, was in town center close to open air night club that played music till 3am and as our accommodation had glass shutters for windows, there was no sound barrier/dampening. Our favourite eateries were Miss T's Kitchen and if you can get out of town, Lobster Bowl in Rio Bueno. All around Ocho Rios and all over Jamaica, roads are riddled with potholes (and some proper craters) so caution is advised if hiring a car. Traffic in and around Ocho Rios is a bit hectic so patience and restrain are required. Rafting on Martha Brae or even on Rio Grande and on/around Blue lagoon (Port Antonio) is not to me missed either.
Not far is Nine Miles - Bob Marley's birth place and mausoleum. Close by are Dunn Falls (a must!), Mystic Mountain and Dolphin Cove.
